Skin Care Du Jour: The Newest Trend In Skin Care

Microcurrent facials are one of the hottest skin care trends. Enhance your skin’s natural age-fighting abilities with this successful treatment.

What is a microcurrent facial?

The International Dermal Institute uses an electrical current at a very low voltage to fight ageing. The microcurrent stimulates cells to enhance the skin. The current triggers chemicals already found in the skin to make it look young.

Benefits of a microcurrent facial

A microcurrent facial has many advantages. It can even be used alternative medicine for restoring damaged skin! Some other benefits include:

  • Less wrinkles
  • Lifted eyebrows
  • Better muscle tone
  • Improved circulation

These benefits can appear wherever the microcurrent is applied. Not only on your face, but the same results can be seen on your neck as well!

Technology used in the microcurrent

The patent for the microcurrent facial device states that it can sometimes be used in conjunction with other techniques. Sometimes it is paired with photo rejuvenation technologies, which enhances the effect of the microcurrent.

The device that delivers the microcurrent uses electrodes to distribute the microcurrent evenly. This is done by placing the electrodes in a particular pattern on the skin. The patent also mentions that surface area is of vital importance in the microcurrent technology. The shape of the apparatus ensures that as much skin as possible receives the current.

Although you are applying a current to your face and neck, there is no risk associated with this treatment. The current is naturally occurring in your body and is only enhanced by the technology.

A scientifically backed treatment

A study published by the National Institute of Health found that applying a microcurrent increased the body’s production of various molecules. Specifically, there was an increase in amino acid and adenosine triphosphate (ATP) production. Both of these molecules are essential for cell repair and production.

Life Science Journal published an article which found that nearly half (over 48%) of women who were treated with a microcurrent showed the greatest improvement in wrinkle reduction on their forehead. 11% of women also saw growth near their nose and mouth.

Another form of microcurrent treatment

Another form of the microcurrent treatment is called ‘specific iontophoresis’. This treatment penetrates the skin at a deeper level. Although it uses the same process as a microcurrent facial, it lasts longer.

Advanced Clinical Aesthetics found that particular iontophoresis allows clients to target where the current goes through the body. This enables customers greater control over their skin and their appearance. Their study reports examples of various application settings. For overall coverage, high frequency and small waves should be used. If, on the other hand, you are looking for deeper skin penetration, use low frequency and larger waves.

The next trend?

Microcurrent facials undoubtedly have a huge impact. They decrease ageing and rejuvenate the skin. Best of all, they are scientifically proven to pose no risk! Many studies also show that this treatment is effective, so you can expect to see results!

Healthy Tips and Recipes

Our world is full of unhealthy drinks, snacks, and fast food. As a culinary student in Southern California, I learned some tricks to turn unhealthy favorites into yummy healthy alternatives. While there is a misconception that everything healthy is vegetarian, it isn’t true. Even a vegetarian diet can have harmful components. I will share some of my secrets that even your kids will love!

Replacing Rice

Rice is a big staple in the diet of a lot of different cultures. When trying to cut down on carbs and calories, there is a healthier alternative. This little secret will even get your kids to eat their vegetables without even knowing it. Use cauliflower rice to replace the rice. Cauliflower rice has a similar texture to rice and even looks like it. No one will know the difference. In my household, rice and beans are something we eat quite often for lunch. I switched to cauliflower rice, and my kids didn’t even notice. Try out this recipe the next time you have left over chicken.

  •    Teriyaki Chicken Bowl using Cauliflower Rice
  •    Chicken breast (2 cups shredded)
  •    Spinach (4 cups)
  •    Sugar snap peas (1 cup)
  •    Orange bell pepper (you can use red or yellow bell pepper)
  •    Yellow and red cherry tomatoes (1 cup)
  •    Teriyaki sauce
  •    EVOO (extra virgin olive oil)
  •    Cauliflower rice (2 cups)

Take your bell pepper and thinly slice it and set it aside until ready to sauté. Cut all your tomatoes in halves or quarters depending on your preference. Once you’ve chopped everything, lightly drizzle the EVOO into a pan on a medium high heat. Add all the vegetables and the pre-shredded chicken into the pan to sauté. Once all the contents are nice and hot, add about six tablespoons of teriyaki sauce.

While sautéing your chicken and vegetables, start heating you cauliflower rice in a separate pan.

Tip: You should always keep a food thermometer in the kitchen. A safe temperature for food to be served is between 145-170 degrees Fahrenheit.

Once it is all at a safe food temperature, place the cauliflower rice in a bowl and top with your teriyaki chicken and vegetable mixture. It is now ready to eat.

There are many different recipes with cauliflower rice. Talk about a cut in calories; cauliflower rice is only 25 calories per cup versus 199 calories per cup of white rice or 216 calories per cup of brown rice.

Say No to Sodas

While sodas are a huge market for drinks, they are extremely unhealthy and full of calories. There are 138 calories per can of Coca Cola, one of the leading brands of soft drinks. You don’t have to cut carbonated drinks out of your diet but try switching from sodas and try flavored carbonated water which has zero calories. If you have kids that don’t like to drink water, this is a great trick because it has all the ‘fizzle’ kids love but none of the calories and harmful ingredients that sodas have.

Carbonated water also satisfies thirst while soda makes you thirstier. You won’t have the sugar crash with carbonated water that you get from sodas either. In my opinion, there are also more flavor profiles to choose from with carbonated water than with soda.

Healthy Tips and Tricks

Here are some healthy tips and tricks to keep a healthy diet and lifestyle:

  •    To follow healthy eating, eat three meals a day (breakfast, lunch and dinner) with small snacks in between meals. Instead of reaching for a candy bar or cookies as a snack try having fresh fruits or nuts. Even a small portion of yoghurt and granola would be a great healthy snack.
  •    Fish holds a significant bit of Omega 3s (ALA, EPA and DHA). EPA and DHA can help with stiffness in joints. DHA is essential for neurological and visual development in infants. After much research, cultures that eat a diet that contains higher levels of Omega 3s have a decreased rate of depression and bipolar disorders. It doesn’t hurt to increase your intake of fish.
  •    Your brain can sometimes trick you to think you are hungry when you are thirsty and vice versa. Try drinking water when you start getting hungry between snacks and meals. But at the same time, you don’t want to drink way too much either. So try to drink in moderation. Eating in moderation is also a good thing to practice.
  •    Always try to make time for breakfast! Breakfast is the meal that is the most important. It gives you that energy boost to get your day going right. You will notice your ability to focus better as well as a boost to your metabolism. Remember that eating in moderation is important too. Eating breakfast in the morning will cause a chain reaction to not overeat during later meals and snacks.

While the list of healthy tips and tricks can go on and on, you don’t have to get overwhelmed. You have to find what fits you and your family best. Staying healthy can be easy if you put your mind to it and be creative. Positive thinking will also promote a healthier lifestyle. It is up to you to get out and exercise, eat healthily, and live healthily.

How your home can tell a story

When you buy or rent a place for the first time, you have a blank canvas, ready to be filled. Our homes tell the story of our lives; how we decorate them and fill them expresses our individuality and shows visitors just who we are. Not only that but creating a space in which you are content, and at peace, somewhere you’re truly happy to live, can have a beneficial effect on your mental health.

In creating this space, you’re creating somewhere you can be yourself, and the addition of a few curios and objets d’art can bring this vision to life, making it seem as though you’ve employed an interior designer!

Interior decor is a big job, though. Making your space your own can be as simple as a few carefully chosen pieces such as these:

Dove Chimes: let your imagination take flight

These delightful doves are the world away from the traditional clunky wind chimes. Their grace in flight is captured beautifully in brass.  This is a quirky yet contemporary piece which would grace any space.

Bird of Paradise: let your spirit soar

This beautiful Bird of Paradise is sure to give you pleasure on a daily basis. It’s intricately interleaved copper strands provide a fascinating textural depth to intrigue and delight. This bird is certainly a conversation starter; the grace and form of its lines echo the fabulous displays of its real-life namesake. Undeniably this is a piece to treasure.

Crushed bottle puzzle: display your playful side

This off-beat curio is certain to provoke a reaction. This brushed aluminium piece is, in fact, a fiendish puzzle, looking at first glance like a piece of litter. Tactile at the same time as being intellectually stimulating, it’s a prime example of why you shouldn’t take things at face value, and a great statement piece.

Chess Bookend: unleash your inner grandmaster

Chess Bookend: unleash your inner grandmaster

What better way to demonstrate your intellect than this combination of books and chess? “In life, as in chess, forethought wins,” said the author Charles Buxton. This marriage of form and function demonstrates your capability always to be thinking a few steps ahead, stick some heavyweight volumes in the middle, and any guest will be suitably awed by your brainpower.

Hand blown art glass apple: a fruity addition

The beautiful smoky finish on the hand-blown glass apple will add a chic and contemporary tone to any space it’s included. The nice crackle on the finish gives the piece a beautiful visual impact as well as implying excellent tactility. This is a beautiful object to own, and an exquisite example of the glassblower’s art.

These are, of course, just a few examples of ways that you can make your space tell a story. The right objects, in the right places, can make your home somewhere you long to return to, and are proud to invite people. Why not explore further at

The entertainment extends to comedy clubs, sports events and even cage fighting.  The Pier Head Village summer festival is the most memorable and takes place on Liverpool’s iconic waterfront from June 30th – September 10th.   Arts and crafts, artisanal local food, funfair rides and regional bands make this fun for everyone and the perfect weekend getaway from the humdrum.

Stripe Hits A Strike With Third Acquisition- Indie Hackers (Content Princess – SEO)

US technology company Stripe has announced that it has made its third acquisition in March 2017 with Indie Hackers, a knowledge sharing community for independent start-ups.

Reason for the acquisition

In an attempt to build and grow relationships with the ever-expanding independent start-up scene, US digital payments company Stripe has recently acquired Indie Hackers for an undisclosed sum.

Patrick Collison, co-founder of Stripe said about the acquisition in March 2017: “Our goal in the acquisition of Indie Hackers is to ensure that the site becomes as successful as possible.”

With Stripe’s revenue upwards of $111 million and the current valuation of around $9 billion, the acquisition seems to be a move towards increasing its customer base.

About Indie Hackers and its Founders

You may not have heard of them, and that’s because Indie Hackers was founded less thana year ago, in July 2016.

Courtland Allen, the founder, set out to create a space where both entrepreneurs and successful business owners could come together in a community for advice and inspiration.

Allen is quoted as saying, on the company’s website, that “he is impressed by Stripe’s aspiring mission of making it simpler for entrepreneurs to establish and grow their businesses.”

With business increasing and recently bringing in a reported $6,000 per month, Allen found his attention was being diverted away from producing content and increasingly towards filling ad inventory.

Why Buy A Knowledge Sharing Community Company?

So, what was the interest for a digital payment company in acquiring a company like Indie Hackers? Stripe, based in San Francisco, already has a significant percentage of new companies choosing their product. Their aim in the acquisition of Indie Hackers, they say, is not to increase that fraction but to increase the overall number of sales.

Stripe hopes that their new acquisition will “strengthen the relationship with the start-up community and further increase the GDP of the internet.”

Stripe’s Fortunes

Stripe has received more than $355 million in funding, with names such as Elon Musk and Sequoia Capital contributing to that fund. The company provides payment processing services for mobile and online payments. It supports credit card payments in more than 135 countries.

In March 2013, Stripe acquired Kickoff. RunKit was purchased in September 2016. Both were bought for a similar reason to Indie Hackers – to benefit Stripe’s customers

The online payments firm understands that if it supports and nurtures smaller, knowledge- sharing communities, it will have a knock-on effect. It will ultimately filter through to Stripe’s potential customers.

What’s In It For Everyone?

Courtland Allen now goes by the official title of ‘Indie Hacker at Stripe’.

Now that Stripe has relieved him of a financial burden, Allen can continue with his first intentions for the entrepreneurial community. Soon, the team plans on developing the Indie Hacker community and working on more original content for the website.

Stripe has an aim to make it easy for entrepreneurs to develop and nurture their businesses. And this is where Indie Hackers will turn up. In turn, Stripe will also benefit as more customers will sign up for their product.

No doubt, this acquisition has created a win-win situation for both companies.

Droom Is Vrooming Ahead With Plans For $60 Million Investment In 2017 (Content Princess – SEO)

India’s largest online automobile marketplace is driving forward with visions to globally expand the car buying and selling sector with a huge investment planned in 2017.

Massive Investment ForDroom

Indian company Droom is accelerating forward at an impressive speed as CEO Sandeep Aggarwal announced to PTI plans of a $60 million investment for 2017.

He stated the funds raised would be to fuel international expansion and assist the development of new products

Aggarwal is keen to point out that these funds are not to plug losses in the company. Instead, this money will let Droom “dominate the market in future with new products and enhanced market share”.

Droom’s Current Presence In The Automobile Market

Starting back in April 2014, in less than two years, Droom became India’s largest hyper-local automobile marketplace. Having a presence in 500 cities across the country, it is currently the fifth largest e-commerce company in India with a workforce of just over 200 employees.

Global Expansion

Speaking to PTI, CEO Sandeep Aggarwal declared his desire to raise $60 million this year. This investment is meant to expand the car buying and selling platform out of India. Droom’s visions for 2017 are to set up operations first in Indonesia followed further by South East Asian countries shortly afterwards.

Where Will The Investment Come From?

Last year Droomraised Rs. 200 Cr from a mixture of Chinese and Japanese investors such as Beenext and Digital Garage. That was the fourth round of fundraising done by Droom. The current round will, therefore, be the fifth and their largest till date.

Aggarwal has made recent trips to Hong Kong and China. He is quoted as saying “there has been significant interest from China” and the company also did an “investor day in Hong Kong”.

It has not yet been confirmed where the money is coming from or who the investors might be. But with an estimated revenue of $52.7 million, it is clear that Droom is firmly in the driving seat racing forward, which will surely attract some lucrative investors both new and old.

How will this investment impact the revenue?

The massive investment will fuel Droom’s rapid expansion further East in Asia. These foreign enterprises hopeDroom to bring 15-20% of their revenue by March 2019.Eventually, the percentage will go up to 30-40%.

Given the amazingly large potential customer base in India, Aggarwal states: “the local Indian market will continue to have the greater share of our revenues in the coming years”.

Along with operating in Indonesia, Droom is also considering a secondary base in the country.

Where Next For This Rapidly Growing Company?

Currently, the company is accelerating at a rate of 350% year on year. Compare this to India’s e-commerce growth of 20% year on year.

The goal is to achieve $1.2 billion in GMV (Gross Merchandise Value) by the end of March 2018. GMV currently stands at $400 million.

2017 is set to be an exciting year for Droom’s online selling portal. The road ahead certainly looks clear for Droom, and With Sandeep Aggarwal at the wheel, they seem to be continuing this race in pole position
